Shore paired up with A.J. Jurich and Weston Solutions in order to install six hundred and one (601) helical piles in Chester, Pennsylvania at the DELCORA Water Treatment Plant. The project involved installing 15,000~ feet of helical piles to support an underground pipeline used to distribute water throughout the plant.
Strategy and Action
Challenges involved installation of piles within a shored trench. Because of this, the operator could not see the pile location 10 feet below the machine. The piles had to be driven into a pre-constructed pile cap box at a 4 degree battered angle. Shore crew had to work diligently to keep communication open between the engineer, the operator, and the ground crew to achieve production of twenty piles a day.
