Shore partnered with Nowland Associates for elevator pit installation activities at St. Andrew’s School in Delaware. St. Andrew’s School is a prestigious boarding school in Delaware, with a focus in developing their student body. The elevator pit called for 8 mini piles, 10 helical piers, timber lagging, and shoring and excavating activities.
Strategy and Action
This project involved providing shoring and point of excavation for an elevator pit. The main challenge of this project was that the elevator was a design build. Our team worked closely with Nowland Associates, engineering and architects to produce drawings and move forward on the excavating activities.
This type of structural excavation is actually quite dangerous. That means Health and Safety protocol is very strict, and specific protocols were set in place for the site. Our team completed this project without a single Health and Safety violation – working together with other teams to ensure that all specifications were followed properly.
